28th April 2008 - U15 v. Cannock & Rugeley
Penn U15 started the new
campaign with a spring in their step. Having won the toss Penn chose to
bat Oliver Slimm & Richard Drew made a good start looking to score runs at
every possible opportunity. The first wicket went down when the score had
reached 16 bringing Adil Jiva to the crease who went on to score an
unbeaten 33.Oliver Slimm showed good early season touches to record a
score of 21.This left the stage clear for Sunil Patel to show what a
powerful hitter of a cricket ball he is by hitting two sixes in the
direction of the scout hut sending the crowd running for cover.

As the teams took to the field
for the second innings the Sky started to get darker, Penn had started
well with the visitors finding it hard to score with some precise
bowling and after 11 overs the score from Cannock & Rugeley was 18 for 2,
when the heavens opened the teams had to come off thinking that was it but
to C&R credit after 10 mins or so they went back on to finish the match
